Condos win Houses loose in the Seattle Real Estate Market?

Recently a Seattle Real Estate news article in the Seattle Times said that the Seattle Metro Condo prices had an higher appreciation rate than homes. The news caught me off guard, and I believe a lot of traditional real estate experts. I know that a few real estate agents and real estate investors are surprised as the home buyers and sellers. I am wondering if any other market had similar appreciation surprises.
